Keeping Up With Technology in Security
“Thank GOD we were able to keep up with all the new TECH products in security,” Hayson shares, acknowledging the collective effort of his affiliated security companies, who are also hard at work adapting to the latest innovations. From advanced surveillance systems to digital reporting platforms, OLDPGS has embraced modern security solutions that enhance efficiency and accountability.
Hayson recalls training a young guard who started at 18 years old at a time when daily reports were handwritten on paper and stored for clients. During training, he noticed the guard struggled with writing. He later discovered that cursive writing had been removed from school curricula, which explained part of the difficulty. Rather than dismiss the young guard, Hayson saw an opportunity.
He transferred the guard to another OLDPGS location equipped with an updated report-writing app that allowed daily reports to be completed via smartphone. The result? The same guard who struggled with pen and paper became a genius with the app. The experience reinforced Hayson’s belief that technology, when used wisely, empowers people and unlocks hidden potential.
From Employee to Founder
The idea for OLDPGS became reality during a pivotal moment in Hayson’s career. While employed at another security firm, he realized he held more licenses, permits, and certifications than the company itself. Faced with that reality, he made a defining decision: venture out on his own.
Thus, Old Patrolman Guard Services was born, a company offering:

- Alarm response
- Investigations
Over time, OLDPGS has built a reputation as “Security Professionals” dedicated to administrating a safe and secure environment across California.
Standing Apart in the Industry
Hayson admires historic names like the Pinkerton Detective Agency and Wells Fargo, which began as a security and express service company before becoming the global bank known today. Yet what strongly sets OLDPGS apart is Hayson himself.
Unlike many founders who step away from field operations, Hayson remains deeply involved. He conducts security details at locations personally and participates in daily office tasks alongside managers. “This was my vision to open up OLD PATROLMAN GUARD SERVICES and investigations,” he says. “Until anyone puts their money where their mouth is and buys out OLDPGS from me, the sole and only founder, I’m here.”
Despite receiving numerous offers, he continues to lead from the front lines, embodying commitment and ownership.
Inspiring Through Opportunity
For Hayson, opportunity is the bottom line. His philosophy centers on giving individuals hope for their visions and, when possible, helping lead them toward realization. His own life lesson is both literal and symbolic.
As a youth in Santa Monica, he once accidentally locked himself inside a smog machine at his mother’s husband’s shop. American actor Telly Savalas happened to be present and opened the machine after hearing him banging from inside. “When opportunity comes, do what I did — jump out,” Hayson says with a laugh. “When you’re locked in a terrible place in life, grasp the opportunity to free yourself. Don’t hesitate like you’ve been doing.”
Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, HAYSON TASHER SR. envisions expanding the “Old Patrolman Brand” into retail locations offering tactical boots, firearms, batons, flashlights, surveillance cameras, and more. Plans also include establishing security training centers and expanding private investigator services, further solidifying OLDPGS as a comprehensive security enterprise.
From paper reports to smartphone apps, from employee to founder, and from vision to expanding brand, OLDPGS stands as proof that in security, as in life, success belongs to those willing to evolve.
